The list of major companies transitioning part of their trucking fleets to natural gas is astounding; Lowes, FedEx, and P&G are all jumping on board...just to name a few companies., observes Tyler Laundon in Daily Profit.
The shift to natural gas is creating subtle changes across America's highways. The number of natural gas fueling stations is on the rise. This is allowing trucking fleets to convert over to this clean burning and abundant fuel for more than just regional routes. Soon, natural gas-powered trucks will be able to travel across the country.
Over the next decade, the build out of natural gas infrastructure is likely to be a topic of everyday discussion. Businesses will convert first. But soon, consumers will be weighing in on the benefits of natural gas vehicles, just as we do now on diesel, gas, and hybrid-electric options.
This is all possible because there is so much cheap natural gas in the US. We just need more fueling stations.

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks have ended with losses in every session this week, and sure enough, the Nikkei Average (JP:NIK) was down 0.6% in early Friday trade, though off an opening 0.8% defecit, while the Topix carried a 0.7% loss. Overnight losses for the U.S. and further strength in the yen (with the dollar falling to 楼101.28 from 楼101.56 a day earlier) helped drag the market lower, as did results from Fast Retailing Co. (JP:9983) (FRCOF) , the shares of which hold the heaviest weighting on Nikkei Average. Fast Retailing said that while its Uniqlo brand was doing great business, weakness for its J Brand luxury demin label helped send September-May profit down 4% and prompted another cut to Fast's full-year outlook. Consequently, its shares traded 0.7% lower, though rivals Takashimaya Co. (JP:8233) and J. Front Retailing Co. (JP:3086) (JFROF) also saw losses of 0.6% and 0.5%, respectively. Advisors' Opinion:- [By Jon C. Ogg]
A larger concern is this “lost in translation” issue. This REIT is acquiring 2 biomedical office buildings that are 96% occupied, with a 15-year term with Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTX). Vertex is now worth almost $20 billion and is expected to be profitable in 2015. Senior Housing will almost certainly get an earnings boost from this lease, but there is one small problem here – most investors believe that they are investing ina company that makes its bread and butter from senior living facilities. Owning biotech leases of healthy large companies is not a bad business; it just changes the focus of the company because this will add about 20% or so in size.

One of today's FDA-approved treatments isVertex Pharmaceuticals' (NASDAQ: VRTX ) Incivek, which is an oral medication administered with ribavirin and a type of interferon calledpeginterferon alfa. While relatively effective, interferon can cause lingering flu-like symptoms in patients for up to 48 weeks, which can make the side-effects of the medication as unpleasant as the chronic HCV disease is itself. However, new drugs are currently in the works which could change all that.

STEEL, calculated by the NYSE Alternext, is a modified market capitalization-weighted index consisting of publicly traded companies predominantly involved in the production of steel products or mining and processing of iron ore. The Index includes companies primarily involved in a variety of activities related to steel production, including the operation of manufacturing mills and fabrication of steel products. Companies eligible for inclusion in Index should be engaged in solar power and related products and services, deriving at least 66% of revenues from it with market cap exceeding $100 million, and should have three-month trading volume equal to or greater than $1 million per day. On Monday, Goldman Sachs upgraded the whole steel sector from Cautious to Neutral and specifically upgraded small cap and mid cap steel stocks AK Steel Holding Corporation (NYSE: AKS), United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) and Steel Dynamics Inc. (NASDAQ: STLD) to Buy with price targets of $6, $30 and $22, respectively, but should you go for one of these individual steel stocks or for the Market Vectors Steel ETF (NYSEARCA: SLX)? To begin with, Goldman Sachs says that thesupply-demand fundamentals for steel are starting to look more appealing as some supply has been taken out plus they have a very bearish view on input costs (as in iron ore)which bodes well for steel producers in the long run. Moreover, recently filed trade cases could provide some tailwindif they are successful.Of course a rising tide can lift all ships, but Goldman Sachs suggests that you go for the followingsmall cap or mid cap steel stocks:

In our late October report on X, we noted the Company was “scratching the surface” on operational improvement, and we expected shares to edge higher over the near term. While X shares have appreciated by 16% since that report vs. the S&P 500 of +4% and the [Market Vectors Steel ETF (SLX)] of +3%, we believe shares have more room to run based on our positive carbon hot-rolled steel pricing revisions for 2014: meaningful raw material cost tailwinds (coal, scrap, iron ore); low Street EPS and EBITDA expectations for 2014-2015; an ever-increasing interest rate environment (benefits for pension exposure); more evidence of European macro stability; and above-average likelihood of incremental operational efficiency announcements such as a joint venture or tolling agreement with Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI).
